Mr. Mclane,
Here and example of how we work with OPD. They are almost always random shots fired over the bow with no information. This is really just so you can understand
For this particular incident, they ended up recreating the deleted email on their end so they could again disseminate email to the Eden users which is why it was created in the first place from what I recall. Not sure why they deleted it at all.

Most of this stuff was requested to be setup at some point by someone through the years. I can’t remember all the particulars on any of these and would be just as happy deleting all of them from my mail server, so bounced email issues such as this, don’t become larger than necessary. Many people may still have this email (Eden_users@OcalaPD.com) cached in their Outlook, or their personal distribution groups, so you may still see people trying to use it. That is one reason it is usually a better practice to create an alias for a production/application email address when they are changed or deleted…
Are all of the folks in that list I sent still there?
Which one is the accurate email address; MIS@OcalaPD.com or misopd@ocalapd.org?
Do you still want us to change the OPD_EDEN_USERS alias address to the same address that is assigned to OPD_MIS, or do you not forward our Eden emails anymore to the OPD Eden Users? (I’m assuming that’s what it was created for.) If you have no need of it at all, I’ll delete it.

Well, I’m not sure that I understand what your email indicates.
If you
“…have removed the email address (EDEN_USERS@OcalaPD.com) from the security group…”
why would you also keep the now disabled eden_users@ocalapd.com as indicated here:
“…We have two email contacts for OPD in our Exchange that pertain to this situation: OPD_EDEN_USERS – Eden_users@OcalaPD.com<mailto:Eden_users@OcalaPD.com>
However, its your call.
Of note, if you continue to use eden_users@ocalapd.com, it WILL continue to bounce.

Tom,
We have removed the email address (EDEN_USERS@OcalaPD.com) from the security group (COO_DG_EDEN_USERS).
We have two email contacts for OPD in our Exchange that pertain to this situation:
OPD_MIS – MIS@OcalaPD.com<mailto:MIS@OcalaPD.com>
OPD_EDEN_USERS – Eden_users@OcalaPD.com<mailto:Eden_users@OcalaPD.com>
Please tell us if these are accurate as we have no way of knowing what you are doing on OPD’s network. We have a record of changing OPD_MIS to SMTP:mis@ocalapd.com but do not understand why we would change the OPD_EDEN_USERS alias address to the same address that is assigned to OPD_MIS?
Can we just delete the OPD_EDEN_USERS alias on our end, since it seems that you are no longer sending email to all the users on your end from us and this particular email address? Do you really want all OPD EDEN correspondence to only go to your MIS@OcalaPD.com<mailto:MIS@OcalaPD.com> email address? (I’m not sure where the referenced misopd@ocalapd.org<mailto:misopd@ocalapd.org> is coming from below in Doug’s reply either.)
We also have these address which should be examined as well for accuracy:
BJames SMTP:BJames@ocalapd.org
DBoozer SMTP:DBoozer@ocalapd.org
FDuryea SMTP:fduryea@ocalapd.org
GGraham SMTP:GGraham@Ocalapd.org
GHowie SMTP:ghowie@ocalapd.org
GRobinson SMTP:grobinson@ocalapd.org
JEason SMTP:JEason@Ocalapd.org
JMcGowan SMTP:jmcgow@ocalapd.org
KEscaravage SMTP:KEscar@ocalapd.org
LCyprian SMTP:LCyprian@ocalapd.org
LRevels SMTP:lrevels@ocalapd.org
MDeines SMTP:MDeines@ocalapd.org
RFord SMTP:rford@ocalapd.org
RLenemier SMTP:rlenemier@ocalapd.org
RSmith SMTP:rsmith@ocalapd.org
SWilliams SMTP:SWilliams@Ocalapd.org
TJenkins SMTP:TJenkins@ocalapd.org
Kari Harms SMTP:kharms@ocalapd.org
Furthermore, I would also have to question why aliases were not used on your end, so that old email addresses would still receive email to the new mail accounts, for continuity during a migration; if that’s why the old email address we were told to use, and configured on our network, are now being disabled. Also, not sure why it’s bouncing 2700+ times as it normally should just have returned an email to our account with “#550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##” or something to that effect which would let us know the email is no longer being used. Anyway, please let us know how to proceed so we can make sure that everything is accurate on both ends.

The eden_user@ocalapd.org<mailto:eden_user@ocalapd.org> must be part of the Eden User group. Tom Jenkins has been asking that I use misopd@ocalapd.org<mailto:misopd@ocalapd.org>. I think we just need to update the Eden User mail group.

Winsome,
The below was sent (apparently blind carbon copy) to:
eden_users@ocalapd.com<mailto:eden_users@ocalapd.com>
Please note that this is the 2nd time in the last six months.
Of note, we disabled this email address on 14 Aug 2012.
The the below email, which has bounced to us 2,780 times, was sent on Nov 27 at 2:15PM.
Please have your folks check into this, and hopefully cancel the email to the disabled “eden_users@ocalapd.com<mailto:eden_users@ocalapd.com>”.
Thanks.
–Tom
