Winsome, again Tom is not giving us anything to go from to help support his network. What I can say is that our network time is within a half of a second of nist time. All our servers are reporting deltas within -0.094 seconds to +0.265 seconds. AVMMail1 is currently reporting +0.003 seconds.

I would have to tell them to get a proper time client system and configure it properly like we did. I would be happy to show him our setup if he is interested, but even then, it’s not just a simple install and it works when it comes to configuring your networks time.

We do not set client’s time with our software as they get theirs from AD, which gives them the time from our time server, and is the physical domain controller that server AD time. Clients do not give the timestamp anyway.

Unfortunately, with Tom, it always a problem that we have to troubleshoot with no information or access. I would just tell them to fix their problem, as we have none on our end. They say they ‘think’ they match NIST. It’s pretty easy to confirm if you do or do not, so there should be no ‘thinking’ involved. You either do or you don’t.

Our time server queries the list of time servers geographically near us and analyzes all the time samples and then chooses the best from:
Ntp1.symmetricom.com
Ntp2.symmetricom.com
Tick.greyware.com
Tock.greyware.com
Nist1.symmetricom.com
And a physical device on our network.

There is nothing to troubleshoot on our network from what I can tell. I know our time is exactly what it’s supposed to be. Let me know if this answers the question. Shawn may have a more politically correct answer for you to give him though. Also, it’s not that we don’t want to help them, they just make it really difficult to do so.

This truely is one for you…

Note times with “<———————” below. How can you reply at a time in the future, and I respond in the past? We’ve double checked our local time, and source – we think we match NIST’s internet time. You may want to check this on your end… We’ll do some more checking… –Tom

Winsome,

This happens more than we’d expect.

Ginny sent this to “support@ocalafl.org’, 24 hours ago, but no response.

She had to send another email to support just now…

Thanks.

–Tom
